Broccoli: benefits and ways to eat them
Broccoli is a cruciferous vegetable, as all the cabbages. They have so many benefits and they should always be on our table in winter. Here, some information.
- Broccoli has got many health benefits: they're rich in vitamin C (more than oranges) so they're great for immunity.
They're also rich in antioxidants, potassium, magnesium and phosphorus which are essential for our health.
- Broccoli don't need to be over cooked. You can steam them or choose to boil the florets for few minutes.
Before cooking, cut broccoli into florets and let them rest for about 20-30 min. In this way the sulforaphane (one of the most potent antioxidants) will be activated.
- Broccoli are low in calories and rich in fiber so they're perfect in a weight loss diet.
Try them with whole grain pasta and dry tomatoes or into the oven with some grated cheese on the top...light but delicious!
